We took a trip to North Side Elementary School and asked the kids to "draw the good or the bad they view in the world". We later asked adults and elders to do the same. We did this in an effort to see how, kids, adults, and elders views of the world differentiate due to the difference in the phases they are currently in. The children seemed to have a more positive view of the world. Although most of them saw the negativity in pollution and global warming, most of them did in fact draw peace signs, smiley faces, and hearts, signifying that they see the world as a happy, loving, and peaceful place. When we asked the same question to adults, we found that they saw more bad than good. The adults of course, being exposed day to day and affected by certain things such as the crash of the stock market, know first hand about the problems in the world. Although many of them did draw good things such as their families as well. Moving on to elders, there were definitely mixed results in that some viewed only the bad, only the good, or both. It really depends on what specific phase an elder is currently undergoing in their lives.
