The Civil Rights Movement

The Civil Rights Movement was a period of many brave people attempting to make great changes, and some of them succeeding. Although it is recorded that it started in the 1950’s, the anger had been stirring up since the 1800’s. Many African Americans had become fed up with how they were being treated. At that time, America was in a phase of history where slaves were used, but also abused. Even after the abolishment of slavery, African American rights were still basically non-existent. In the Brown vs. Board of Education case, the Supreme Court made a great decision to phase out segregation slowly but still effectively.
