This commercial for the Volkswagen Company is an interesting one to say the least. The father, all grown, undoes the cover to his old car, the car he met his wife and started his life with. Throughout the commercial we see the literal phases of the man's life-falling in love, buying a home, having a kid, and other milestones as his son gets older. These transitions in his life all bring him to the point where he can pass on the car to his son for him to accomplish more with it.
In this Life Insurance commercial, a father is at a bad point in his life where him and his son are no longer speaking. He hopes to resolve this problem, and reconnect with his son, but on the way to his songs concert he is hit by a bus and loses his life. This commercial, although a sad way to show it, shows us that we must not wait too long because at any moment, everything can change. Throughout our time studying the idea of last phases of our lives, we mostly thought about elders and what they do in their last phase. It is hard to think, however, that that the last phase could come at any moment. This commercial clearly shows us that we must live each day as our last, because at any moment this phase of our life could be over, and our chances at life will be over.
