Learning to Write

Picture
At a young age, kids are taught how to write. Of course, it is not so easy for them at first, but their accomplishment is essential. There are certain steps in the child's progression and transition from not knowing anything to then knowing how to write. First, the Preschooler scribbles. This is sort of the “testing the water” time for them. They don’t know yet how to write the letters until their teacher tells them. Then they transition into “Mock Writiing” where there is an abilitiy to recognize what the child is writing. It is no longer random scribbles. Then they begin the most important part, the “mock letters”. Although still not there yet, the child learns to mimic what he sees in terms of the letters of the alphabet. They soon transition into the ability to write the actual letters. All these transitions and phases are vital to the future of the child.
